APEX Process Safety was founded by Gary Pilkington who has almost 30 years experience
in process safety and loss prevention in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and allied
process industries. Unlike many process safety practitioners, his career has specialised
almost entirely on process safety and loss prevention, and is not an add-on to an
EHS or engineering career. He brings to APEX Process Safety a perspective on process
safety management, from the fundamentals to current best practice, that can only
be developed his unique combination of cross-industry and International activities.
The areas where APEX Process Safety can provide specialist contract and consultant

• Hazard Identification - commonly used techniques include HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and
SIL.
• Risk Assessment - both qualitative and quantitative techniques, and the development
of risk management systems

and electrostatic hazards for example.
